According to what I've studied, that only happens in the anaphase I of meiosis. The anaphase I of meiosis is the fase in which the mother cell starts expanding and dividing the chromossome between the two future cells.
The anaphase II instead, is the fase in which centromires start dividing and the chromatides tranform in to chromossomes.
