A delivery truck travels 22 blocks north, 17 blocks east, and 27 block south. What is it’s final displacement

Respuesta :

Let the starting point as origin.

Let the [tex]\vec{d}[/tex]  be the displacement vector of the truck from the origin.

The final displacement is the sum of all of the individual displacements.

[tex]\vec{d} = 22 \hat{j} + 17 \hat{i} - 27 \hat{j}[/tex] units.

Here , i ,j are units vectors.

[tex]\vec{d} =  17 \hat{i} - 5 \hat{j}[/tex] units

Magnitude of displacement,

[tex]\left | \right \vec{d}|  = \sqrt{(17)^2 + (-5)^2} = 17.72[/tex] units
