Together teammates Pedro and Ricky got 2673 base hits last season. Pedro had 279 more hits than Ricky. How many hits did each player have?

 x = Ricky's hits 
x + 275 = Pedro's hits 

x + (x + 275) = 2669 
2x = 2669 - 275 = 2394 
x = 2394/2 = 1197 = Ricky's 
x + 275 = 1197 + 275 = 1472 = Pedro's
The value of x is 1204. Therefore, Ricky got 1204 and Pedro got 1481.
