What changes does Rick Riordan make to the original myth of Medusa? Do you think those changes made sense or should he have kept the myth the same? Explain.

Riordan's take on Medusa is that Athena cursed Medusa for desecrating Athena's temple, but in Greek mythology, the legend states that Medusa was cursed for having an affair with the god Poseidon.  I think the changes Riordan made make sense for the plot of The Lightning Thief, but the original myth is also interesting.
