slope intercept problem:
y = mx + b (m is the slope and b is the y intercept)
slope is rise/run - the climbers 600ft (rise) every 1 hour (run) … m = 600/1
on the graph the x axis would be time and the y axis would be the climbers elevation.
at time(t) = 0 which is the same as saying x = 0 the climbers are already 6500 up so that is your y-intercept.
thus the equation is:
y = 600/1 x + 6500 or y = 600x + 6500
when time(t) or x = 3.5
y = 600(3.5) + 6500
y = 2100 + 6500
y = 8600
The climbers elevation after 3.5 hrs is 8600ft.
