A stream is flowing at 0.75m/sec, and a boat heading perpendicular for the stream landed at the opposite bank at angle 30°. calculate the velocity of the boat.​

Solution Given:

Let the velocity of the boat = V m/s

Cos 30°=[tex] \frac{adjacent }{hypotenuse} =\frac{0.75}{V }[/tex]

[tex] \frac{0.75}{V}[/tex] = 0.8660

∴ V = [tex]\frac{0.75}{0.8660}[/tex]

V = 0.866 m/s
