The effect of the capture of Constantinople

When the state of Constantinople was captured by the Turks, and other parts of the middle East, the Europeans had to close the silk road. By this time it had become more dangerous to travel on the waters. Hence the need to find new trade routes was necessary.

The use of mercantilism made the Europeans to rush as much as they could to get resources form other places because they believed that they existence of such could only last for a while.
