Over the past ten years, a total of 18108 samples of cannabis preparations have been evaluated using a validated GC/FID method through the University of Mississippi's potency monitoring program, which the National Institute on Drug Abuse provides funding for (NIDA).

The samples are categorized as hashish, hashish oil, hashish, and sinsemilla (now referred to as cannabis concentrate). Since many US states have legalized marijuana for either medical or recreational use, the amount of samples received over the past five years has dramatically declined.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) has created a test that asks about how frequently you use alcohol, tobacco, prescription medicines, and illicit drugs. Additionally, these programs have shown a rise in cannabis's 9-THC concentrations and 9-THC: CBD ratios.  These patterns over the past ten years indicate that cannabis in the USA and Europe is becoming a more dangerous substance.
