Matt uses 3 tablespoons of breadcrumbs in his recipe for turkey meatballs. Today he must double the recipe. His tablespoon measuring spoon is dirty so he will use a Β½ tablespoon measuring spoon. Explain how he can find the number of Β½ tablespoons of breadcrumbs he must measure?

If he knows that he is doubling his recipe then first he needs to know how many tablespoons of breadcrumbs he needs. 3 * 2 = 6 tablespoons. Because he is using half tablespoons he needs to multiply that by 2 again. 6 * 2 = 12.
12 because 1/2 times 2= 6
