Carly and julia ran a 1 mile race. Carly runs 5/8 of a mile before stopping to take a break, and julia runs 7/8 of a mile before she stops to take a break. How much further each person has to run to finish the race

Carly needs 3/8 of a mile and Julia needs 1/8 of a mile because 5/8 is 3/8 away from a whole and 7/8 is 1/8 away from a whole.
